SEOUL NATIONAL UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL Seoul National University Hospital has been ranked first in the general hospital category of the Korea Brand Power Index (K-BPI) for the 26th consecutive year, according to the 2026 survey conducted by the Korea Management Association Consulting (KMAC). The K-BPI measures consumer perception across awareness, image, accessibility, and preference, drawing on individual interviews with 12,800 respondents across Seoul and six metropolitan regions. In all four dimensions, SNUH recorded outstanding results. The achievement comes at a moment of significant institutional investment. Since establishing its Healthcare AI Research Institute, SNUH has developed SNUH AI — a proprietary AI agent platform applying artificial intelligence and data-driven precision medicine to clinical workflows. The hospital has also expanded into robotic-assisted surgery and advanced minimally invasive procedures, building a global reputation in high-complexity care that extends beyond Korea’s borders. The international dimension of SNUH’s standing is increasingly tangible. The hospital recently opened a Global R&D Hub in Boston — a deliberate move to strengthen ties with the North American biomedical research ecosystem and accelerate collaboration in bio-digital health innovation. At home, SNUH is taking on a broader public health role. Construction is underway on Baegon Seoul National University Hospital — an 800-bed smart hospital designed to address the acute shortage of medical services in the Gyeonggi southern region. The hospital is also supporting the opening of a National Infectious Disease Hospital and the Centre for High-Complexity Treatment, reinforcing its commitment to essential medical infrastructure for the whole country. Founded in 1885 as the first Western-style national hospital in Korea, SNUH has led over 140 years of Korean medical development. The K-BPI result, staff and leadership argue, reflects not the inertia of legacy but the momentum of an institution actively reinventing what it means to be Korea’s leading hospital. #1 General Hospital Category — 26 consecutive years
